Helping in Liberia

Helping in Liberia

from Bob Emerson:

I am writing to appeal to you on behalf of our brothers and sisters of the FCA in Liberia due to the Ebola crisis they are in the midst of. It is costing them a lot just to live because they are having to do a lot of extra sterilizing, purifying, and cleaning just to avoid any contact with the Ebola virus. They have asked me if I could make an appeal to the fellowship to help them. I have been helping to channel money for ministry in Liberia since 2007 through my 501c3, Dream Again Foundation (2032 Orvis Dr., Stockton, CA 95209)

We are in continual contact with Liberia, and Pastor Josiah Swen in particular. Until recently he has been the chairman for the FCA in Liberia, but he is the only pastor that I know well and would be very trustworthy to distribute any funds that are received to the other pastors in Monrovia. I don’t know about pastors in the interior but I am sure that their chances are much better of not contacting Ebola than those in the heavily populated capital city of Monrovia. At present the churches in Monrovia are very fearful about even meeting together because of the possibility of contacting the Ebola virus from others, and for sure they don’t shake hands, etc. if they do get together. It has also affected the attendance in their schools and the schools are a source of support for those who maintain schools. So, because of this they are not able to pay their teachers either. The last time I talked with Pastor Josiah they had already lost 3 people connected with the church and school (the schools is about 900 students).

This is one of those times, like when Paul raised funds for the Jerusalem church, where it is urgent for us to stand with our brothers and sisters around the world! If you would like to call me please feel free to do so. My cell number is 209-471-7960.

Thank you so much!

Question for you: Do you know of other FCA ministers or ministries working in the midst of the Ebola Crisis in West Africa?
