Who would have believed that here in America Christmas would become unwanted, offensive, and even illegal? I say that reflecting back into the days of my early childhood and upon the time of our founding fathers. It is easy to perceive the opposition of Christmas in our daily lives: there are people who do not want Christmas observed and are fighting to remove it’s celebration, businesses instruct their employees to replace saying, Merry Christmas with happy holiday, and the government forbids the displaying of the nativity scene on any level of government property. There’s so much to be said about this resistance of Christmas (Christ), but I would rather keep focus upon Christmas itself. Christmas clearly speaks for itself and quite loudly.
“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:9-14)
