It is with great sadness in our hearts that we report that Missionary & Pastor Bob Finke suffered a tragic accident on Wednesday, November 11th in Bogota Colombia and is now with the Lord. Bob was at a pastor’s meeting and was going with some men to dinner walking across a road when he was fatally struck by a motorcycle. He was 75 years old.
Bob & his wife Marilyn have been missionaries for over 50 years and have served in Colombia for 44 of those years. They have planted churches and recently has been leading a team of church planters who have planted over 1,500 churches all over South America. It is estimated that 80,000 people in South America have come to Christ through this church panting movement (Spanish obituary).
Bob fought the good fight and finished the race and there is is store for him a crown of righteousness.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Please pray for Marilyn and her family. Their son Steven (& family) are in Medellin where they pastor and Bob has 4 daughters & their families who live in the states. His daughters will be heading to Colombia for the memorial service. Please also pray for those grandchildren and in-laws who may not be able to make the trip to Colombia as they are mourning during this time as well.
