(May 29, 2009) Attendance held steady through the last half-day of the FCA U.S. Convention in Orlando, as delegates gathered for morning devotions led by Pastor Tom Flaherty (Madison, Wis.), a second message from Thursday night speaker Ron Frances of YWAM, and a closing presentation by Pastor Carl Johnson (New City, N.Y.).
Johnson, who had been re-elected to the national board the day before, took his text from 1 Corinthians 3:5-15, zeroing in on the words of verse 10—“Be careful how you build.” He positioned this passage as similar to the Pastoral Epistles (1 Timothy, etc.) in its advice to church leaders.
The convention then concluded with a time of worship, Communion, and prayer.
Next year’s convention will be a joint meeting with FCA Canada, to be held April 20-22, 2010, in Red Deer, Alberta—halfway between the major airports of Calgary and Edmonton. Paul Vallee will be the host pastor.
