Shoulders To Stand On

Shoulders To Stand On
Published on:

Paul Reich, with Living Faith Bible College shared his insights on leadership at the FCA Canada Convention in Winnipeg on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

Reich stated that part of our paradigm needs to be about helping others achieve their goals as opposed to only our own. A mentor provides wisdom, time and relationship saying, “Here’s what I have – I’m giving it to you.” If the leaders of tomorrow are behind us, they have no vantage point, but on our shoulders, they can see what we see and beyond.

There are certain goals you will never achieve on your own. We have to be a resource for the leaders behind us. Each generation stands on the shoulders of the previous generation. A good question to ask yourself as a leader is ‘What foundations can I leave so the next generation so they can go farther?’

Reich outlined Five Levels of Church Leadership:

Level 1 – Grassroots Leaders
Level 2 – Overseers and Supervisors
Level 3 – Full-time Local Leaders
Level 4 – Regional Leaders
Level 5 – National Leaders

When we assess leaders, we should have an idea of what level they’re at in order to take them farther. If we were to develop a culture of leadership development within FCA, what could we accomplish and what would happen for the cause of Christ, the expansion of God’s kingdom, and the growth of FCA?

The results could be astounding. Rather than addition, there would be multiplication. It could foster an explosion of God-things happening across our nation, including the planting of churches, the launching of new ministries, and the impact of the FCA on our nation for the cause of Christ. Passionate young leaders are entering in and it’s time to pass the baton.
